Considering this person is homeless, I’m not exactly sure what government money he is getting anyway. It was your $10, and you made a choice. I guess he got $10.09 total ($.09 social services and $10 from you?) Maybe health, and definitely nat. defense, too.

Furthermore, your $10 was after taxes. Your server incurred a tax burden of 8% of your bill, whether he actually got 8% or not. So, his tax contribution to the homeless man may actually be more than the $3. Whether you gave it to the server or homeless man, the server was responsible for taxed income for YOUR lunch. He’s not the one bitching about taxes. Maybe he thinks 3% is fair. And maybe he gives him $1 everyday.

What makes you think $10 is what the service you received at lunch was worth anyway? That’s what it was worth to you. 15% is an arbitrary number based on the 8% of sales. It is worth (could be) something else to your server, his employer, and other diners.

Would you prefer going home and preparing the same meal for yourself? For most people that work, that is an impossibility. So I think that I can argue that his job makes your job possible, and vice versa. I think that is also a pretty good argument for wealth redistribution. Unless of course you would REALLY rather be self-sufficient and join the amish Community.

Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.

I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memories so they never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.

Also, I’m looking for a source that records socialist quotes. such as Obama’s “spread the wealth around” comment, Hillary’s “we will have to take you over for the greater good” comment (not exact) regarding the oil companies earlier in the year or Bill’s comment back in the 90s when he was discussing giving tax breaks to the elderly and said “I can’t do that because I don’t think you would spend the money wisely”.

I’m just thinking you should probably change the name of this site… Not because there isn’t some truth to the things you say, but because your opinion is very one-sided. This is basically just another anti-Obama site and not really a source for truth in voting. A true soure for truth would show the truth about both sides of the issue.

I believe most small business owners will be getting far more money back than they ever had under GOP tax plans. The other point is President elect Barrack wasn’t referring to the taxing of the gross profits of a business but the actual income the owner paid himself with. Therefor a business making 250,000 will not see a tax raise as the owner of that business has all his business expenses which of course will put his take home pay far below a quarter million.

The people who are completely out of touch with American workers are the GOP. Reagan’s tax breaks for the wealthy in the 80′s along with his trickle down economic voodoo is what put all tax increases on working and midddle class Americans and of course he was another large spending President just like the current outgoing coup.

No wonder the country is in the shape its in when so many people have sucked up the GOP propaganda about redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the poor. If one iota of that had happened the poor would be growing less poor not more so.

He came from a modest family. How did his family afford to send him to Columbia? or Harvard? Is that why his college records are sealed? Who funded his education?

How did he “earn” his wealth? He worked as a community organizer. Last I checked that is not a high paying job. Looks suspicious to me.

Mr. Obama has not WORKED for a living and is out of touch with the average American worker. Wake up America – Barack Obama will do nothing for you except tax the working people to help the lazy folks get their large screen TVs, fancy cars, and houses they can’t afford.

While it’s true democrats like Barney Frank were working towards making it easier for lower income families to get affordable home loans, it’s the predatory lending that got us into this mess. In other words, they “tricked” people into getting bigger loans than they could afford knowing they were going to sell that debt (bundled with other bad loans) off to other banks. Then those banks resold it, and again, over and over. It’s like hot potato. Until whoever was left standing with it at the end got screwed. Except not really. They just walked away with the money while people lost their homes.

And let me tell you something, when you say that’s not racist, you are implying that it was poor black people that couldn’t pay their bills. That is not only indicative of racism, it’s also complete ignorance. It wasn’t just black people that got taken in by this. It was everybody.

You’re correct in thinking that I’m partisan. I am a liberal atheist democrat from NC. And absolutely proud of that. But, I get my information from all sources that I can.

If you think that I don’t know that Dick Morris is a political analyst for FOX News, your the one that is miss-informed. Stop watching the “truly biased media” and start thinking for yourself.

The republicans wanted deregulation of Fanny and Freddy. The democrats passed regulation forcing lenders to loan money to people who couldn’t possibly pay it back (to be fair and not racist). The result of these two ideals colliding is the crisis we have now.

For you to blame this on republicans is to show that you’re purely partisan and not an independent thinker. Quit paying attention to biased media outlets and either do the research yourself or consult with unbiased experts.

One good source is Dick Morris. He’s not a republican (he actually worked for Bill Clinton’s administration as a close adviser). Morris is respected by both the left and the right. See what he has to say about economic issues.

Also, I shouldn’t have thrown in the “you idiots” part. I was wrong for stating it that way. That kind of mentality does nothing to help the divisive nature of our country at the moment or bring people together. I was guilty of the same ignorance that I was trying to condemn. So for that statement, I apologize.

We all need to do everything we can to spread the truth and focus on the areas that we agree instead of harping about the ways we differ.

Just so you know, we have a democratic majority in both the House of Representatives as well as in the Senate. The republicans in congress can’t do anything if the democrats don’t let them. The bill didn’t pass the first time, and almost didn’t pass the second time. The republicans were mostly against it. The democrats were mostly for it.

Before you go off saying I’m just some right wing idiot, let me point out that I’m a lifelong democrat. We only have our own party in congress to blame for the bailout

You hit the nail on the head. He’s just taking advantage of our donations. He’s collected 600 million dollars for things like this? With that kind of money he should be blowing McCain away, not have a small lead.

P.S. If your going to be pissed at “spreading the wealth around”, why don’t you start with 700 billion that just got yanked from our pockets and given to the “poor” banking industry. Thanks for that GOP!!!
