I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am a Conservative which to me means a passionate belief in “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. It is not “a blind adherence to the past or a stubborn opposition to progress” as liberal college political science professors might define it.
I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as written by the founding fathers. I believe these documents provide the best system of law and government possible. I believe in free speech, freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms. I believe in personal liberty and individual responsibility. I believe in limited government. I believe that taxes should be used for providing for the common defense and providing essential services, but never for redistributing the wealth. Furthermore, I believe each individual should use their talents and abilities to be the best he or she can be and has a personal right to use and profit from his or her hard work. I believe that the United States is the greatest nation in the history of this world and that a strong military is absolutely essential to our national defense, to our continued freedom and a quality that of life that is superior to that of any other country in the world. John McCain most closely shares my world view and I proudly endorse him as the next President of the United States.
In my opinion, John McCain is the clear and by far the best choice available in what is the most important election of my lifetime. The differences between the two candidates are great. John McCain is an American hero, a man that has served his country for over fifty years during which time he has lived the philosophy “Country First”. His lifetime of service to our country through his actions and deeds is well documented. He was a war hero and spent five years in a prisoner of war camp. When offered an early release, he refused and honored a pact with other prisoners that the prisoner there the longest may leave first.
I have not always agreed with John McCain, but I have always respected him for doing what he believed to be best for the country. During John McCain’s long and honorable Senate career, he has always stuck by his principles, even if it meant taking a position at odds with his party or with public opinion. The McCain-Kennedy Amnesty bill and the McCain-Finegold-Kennedy-Lieberman bill are examples where McCain crossed the aisle and stood by his conviction. There are many other examples. The best known one is when things were not going well in Iraq, the majority of public opinion no longer supported the war, and the media and most Democrats said the war was hopelessly lost, John McCain called for a surge in forces that ultimately changed the direction of the war. John McCain has a wealth of national defense and military experience. John McCain believes in a free market economy with minimal government involvement. John McCain opposes earmarks and pork barrel projects. Examine his record and you will see $0.00. John McCain believes in extending the Bush tax cuts when they expire in 2009. He opposes increasing capital gains taxes,
You made me focus on why I will vote on John McCain. I had previously focused on why I was not voting for Barak Obama. That must also be addressed because while a great deal is know about John McCain, very little is know about Barak Obama. What is known is that Barak Obama has demonstrated a world view that is extremely radical and not shared by main stream America. He has documented associations with criminals, terrorists, communists and marxists. In each documented instance, he denied or downplayed the association until video or other proof proved otherwise. At first, he said “I could no longer disown Jeremiah Wright than I could my own uncle”. When video of Rev. Wright’s hateful, racist and anti-American rants surfaced, Obama claimed he never said those things when he was in church. He finally cut ties with Rev. Wright and left the church. Obama’s website denied any association with ACORN, but that was pulled off the website once his associations with ACORN and its subsidiary groups was proven. Similarly his ties with William Aires, Tony Rezko, Rev. Wright, Rev. James Meeks, Rashid Khalidi, and Father Pfleger are documented by videos and other sources.
He was ranked the most liberal person in the Senate by the National Journal’s 27th annual vote ratings and running mate Joe Biden was ranked the third most liberal senator. Barak Obama has 150 days service in the U S Senate before declaring and starting his run for the Presidency. He is the least experienced candidate in recent history. Obama believes in “sharing the wealth” and by his own admission would use our tax system to accomplish this. He will do or say anything to get elected.
He voted 94 times either for tax increases or against tax cuts. Now he says he intends to cut taxes for 95% of all Americans. When it was pointed out that 40% of Americans did not pay income taxes, he claimed that they paid payroll taxes. In other words, because they pay into social security retirement fund he will give them an income tax refund check. That is using the tax system to redistribute the wealth. Of course, he will not cut taxes for 95% of Americans.
He will increase taxes for big corporations such as the “evil oil companies”. One problem is when a business is taxed, it increases the cost of producing the product. Therefore, either the price must be increased or the workforce must be reduced. This is simple economics. Barak Obama has already said he will double the capital gains tax and reinstate the inheritance tax. His approach will punish success and hard work. If Obama becomes President and congress increases in democrat representatives, they will quite possibly have a “super majority”. This means there will be no checks and balances and no way to stop congress from cutting the military spending by 25% as Barney Frank has promised to do.
If the polls are right, Barak Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will soon have unchecked control of this country. The most unfortunate aspect of this, is that they do not represent the sentiments of the vast majority of Americans. The liberal news media has severely distorted the facts surrounding this election. An October 29, 2008 study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for excellence in Journalism determined the following:
All media: 57% of McCain Stories negative, 29% of Obama stories were negative.
Newspaper: 69% of McCain stories negative, 28% of Obama stories negative
NBC News: 54% of McCain stories negative, 21% of Obama stories negative
MSNBC: 73% of McCain stories negative, 14% of Obama stories negative
FOX News: 40% of McCain stories negative, 40% of Obama stories negative
CNN News: 61% of McCain stories negative, 39% of Obama stories negative
The tragedy is that if Obama is elected, by the time the American public realize the mistake they have made, and they will, it will be too late. Two or three supreme court appointments will be made by the next President as well as the appointment of countless federal court judges. Programs such as universal health care will be nearly impossible to repeal once they are implemented.
